Gajendra Moksham - Bhagavatam 7.0
VedanTech LLC
What is Gajendra Moksham:=========================Gajendra Moksham is one of the most famous exploits of Vishnu inSrimad Bhagavatam. A recitation of this episode early in themorning has great immortal powers like the recitation of the sacredhymn Sri Vishnu Sahasranama. There is no disaster from which, themighty and the compassionate Lord would not protect the devotees, that with faith and devotion remember His feet as their refuge.Benefits of reciting Gajendra Moksham everyday:===============================================Lord Vishnu Assers in Verse 8.4.25 of Srimad BhagavatamPuran:"My dear devotee, unto those who rise from bed at the end ofnight and offer Me the prayers offered by you, I give an eternalresidence in the spiritual world at the end of their lives."It is also said that if one recites the Gajendra Prayer, oneachieves liberation and freedom from frightening dreams! The Story of Gajendra:======================Gajendra was the King of elephants. One hot day, he proceeded tothe lake with his family to cool off in its fresh waters. But fromwithin the lake a crocodile appeared who attacked him and would notlet go of him. When the family and relatives saw ‘death’ comingclose to Gajendra, and everyone realised that everything was lost, they left Gajendra alone. The symbolism so far:Man is Gajendra. The world is the lake where he plays the game oflife with family and others. The crocodile is ‘Death andDifficulties’ which attack man.The Lesson:Neither family nor friend can liberate one from the clutch ofdeath.God answers your prayers. It is said that ‘Nirbal key bal Ram’.Which means that Shri Hari is the Strength of the Weak!A lot of us make preparations for a journey from which one ismeant to return; yet we make none for death! Most of us cry out toGod when caught in hopeless situation. And that is what Gajendradid! Why did this Lord's past time happen?==============================Gajendra, in his previous life was a great devotee called KingIndradyumna. One day, Agastya, a great sage came to visit the king.Indradyumna did not receive the Sage with the respect that thelatter expected. The enraged Agastya cursed the king to become anelephant in his next birth, as he sat heavy on his seat and did notrise to greet him.The crocodile in its last life was a king called HuHu in theGandharva planet. Once while enjoying himself in the waters, hepulled the leg of a sage. The enraged sage cursed the king tobecome a crocodile in his next life. The repentant HuHu asked forpardon. The Sage proclaimed that though he could not retrieve thecurse, the crocodile would be liberated from the cycle of birth anddeath when Gajendra would be saved by the Lord God Himself.

Sing Along Brahma Samhita is an easy to useapplication that helps devotees learn chanting of Shri BrahmaSamhita shloks perfectly and understand this important scripture. You have the option of pausing or resuming the audio.THIS APP NEEDS INTERNET/DATA ACCESS FOR SHOWING DOCUMENT.It is advisable to chant this on every Ekadashi fasting day toplease Lord Krishna or Shri Narayana or Shri Vishnu.About Brahma Samhita:According to Vedic tradition, these “Hymns of Brahma” wererecited or sung countless millennia ago by the first created beingin the universe, just prior to the act of creation. What we nowhave as Brahma-samhita is, according to tradition, only one of ahundred chapters composing an epic work lost to humanity. The texthere surfaced and entered calculable history early in the sixteenthcentury when it was discovered by a pilgrim exploring themanuscript library of an ancient temple in what is now Kerala statein South India. The pilgrim who rescued Brahma-samhita from obscurity was SriCaitanya Mahaprabhu—saint, mystic, religious reformer, and fullincarnation of the Supreme Lord, Sri Krsna, descending into thepresent epoch for the salvation of all souls. After a southwardjourney from Puri (in Orissa State) that carried Him to holy placessuch as Sri Ranga-ksetra, Setubandha Ramesvara, and finallyKanyakumari (Cape Comorin), he turned northward and, travelingalong the bank of the Payasvini River in Travancore state, reachesthe temple of Adi-kesava, in Trivandrum district.Upon beholding the holy image of Adi-kesava (Krsna) in thetemple, Caitanya was overwhelmed with spiritual ecstasy, offeredfervent prayers, and chanted and danced in rapture, a wondroussight that was received with astonished appreciation by thedevotees there. After discussing esoteric spiritual matters amongsome highly advanced devotees present, Sri Caitanya found “onechapter of the Brahma-samhita”.Upon discovering the manuscript, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu feltgreat ecstasy and fell into an intense mystic rapture thatoverflowed onto the physical realm, producing a profusion of tears, trembling and perspiration. (We would search the literature of theworld in vain to find a case in which the discovery of a lost bookinspired such unearthly exhilaration!) Intuiting the Brahma-samhitato be a “most valuable jewel,” He employed a scribe in hand-copyingthe manuscript and departed with the copy for His return journey tothe north.“There is no scripture equal to the Brahma-samhita as far as thefinal spiritual conclusion is concerned,” exults KrsnadasaKaviraja. “Indeed, that scripture is the supreme revelation of theglories of Lord Govinda, for it reveals the topmost knowledge aboutHim. Since all conclusions are briefly presented in Brahma-samhita,it is essential among all the Vaisnava literatures.”

VedanTech LLC
The Madhurasthakam, composed by SriVallabhacharya (1478 A.D), is a unique stotra, describing theSweetness of Lord Sri Krishna. Madhurashtakam was originallywritten in Sanskrit and is easily understood.Only one word, madhuram, is repeated seven times each in thisashtakam (poem with eight verses)! The Madhurasthakam uses just oneadjective, "madhuram", meaning sweet or beautiful etc., to describethe lovely attributes of Lord Sri Krishna's beautiful form, who isthe master of Sweetness and Sweetness personified. It is evident from the ashtakam that the devotee is fascinatedto have a look at not only the beautiful divine sweet form[sarvanga sundara rupam] of Lord Krishna but also the veryexistence of the Lord -- by way of His moves, plays, pastimes, etc. Thus says the devotee: "O Lord of sweetness, everything aboutYou is completely sweet, You are sweetness personified."

Kunti's words -- the simple andilluminatingoutpourings of the soul of a great and saintly womandevotee --reveal both the deepest transcendental emotions of theheart andthe most profound philosophical and theologicalpenetrations of theintellect. Her words are words of glorificationimpelled by adivine love steeped in wisdom: O Lord of Madhu, as theGangesforever flows to the sea without hindrance, let my attractionbeconstantly drawn unto You without being diverted to anyoneelse.(SB. 1.8.42)Kunti's spontaneous glorification of Lord Krsna andherdescription of the spiritual path are immortalized intheMahabharata and the Bhagavata Purana (Srimad-Bhagavatam), andtheyhave been recited, chanted, and sung by sages and philosophersforthousands of years. Therefore Kuntidevi says, " Vipadah santu tah sasvat: "Letallthose calamities happen again and again." Because she knows howtoremember Krishna at times of danger, she is welcoming danger."Mydear Lord," she says, "I welcome dangers, because when dangerscomeI can remember You."This material world is certified by the Lord in theBhagavad-gitaas a dangerous place full of calamities. Intelligentpeoplesincerely attempt to acquire information of the abode of theLord, which is full of bliss and without trace of calamity. Theduty ofthe sane person, therefore, is to be undisturbed byworldlycalamities, which would come anyway one way or another.Toleratingall sorts of unavoidable misfortunes, one should makeprogress inspiritual realization, because that is the mission ofhumanlife.
